The Doorway Gallery, Nutgrove Arts Festival

The Doorway Gallery are the official Art Gallery at:
NUTGROVE ARTS FESTIVAL
And we are inviting you to the launch:

Celebrity artist Nick Munier will be doing a live art demonstration on Thursday 15th at 7pm at Nutgrove shopping centre along with gypsy-jazz band 'Locoswing' which will provide the music, local poet Nessa O’Mahoney will read and 'The Zoryanna Tribal bellydance troupe' will also perform. The eclectic flavour of the launch will give a taste of what this dynamic, new ten-day Arts festival has in store – a very wide range of artistic events to enjoy.
The unusual concept of using the shopping centre for this purpose is the brainchild of Sean Aylward and Dun Laoire Rathdown County Council recognised the merit of this idea and gave their much valued support. From the outset it was decided to make the event as inclusive as possible. The Doorway Gallery have been invited exclusively to host a selection of work from their gallery artists for the duration of the festival starting this Thursday 15th and will run until September 25th. Throughout the festival there are short film screenings and slide shows featuring chats with artists and live art demonstrations, all on the big screen.
The Calypso CafĂ© is to host drama from the Rathfarnham Drama Group Wednesday 21st  and Thursday 22nd and Tongue Box performance poetry event Sunday 18th as well as music from Ireland’s top jazz guitarist and vocalist Nigel Mooney on Friday 23rd. The Foyer stage has a brimful of talents, highlights include: Wassa Wassa African drum and dance troupe, dance performances from Dancon,  musical comedy duo ‘Totally Wired’ and a rare, improvised collaboration between musician and dancer - The Ambiencellist and dance artist Rachel Mulcahy - take to the stage on Friday 16th. Burlesque star Miss Monique hosts a ‘vintage fashion show’ followed by an impromptu ‘Glove Routine’ workshop on Saturday 24th! The Doorway Gallery will host Live demonstration's from artist Nick Munier on September 15th at 7pm, Padraig McCaul on September 17th at 2pm and Kevin McSherry on September 16th at 2pm which should not be missed. This is just a sample of what’s in store in the lead up to the finale at which Tenor Dominic McGorian and pianist Seamus Ludden perform (Sunday 25th)  to wrap up what is sure to be an enjoyable, entertaining and engaging ten days.
